Passage to Bangkok

Cinemapulp Presents: Passage To Bangkok July/Aug, 2008 The Sensationalized Poster Art of Thai Cinema. Now a lost art form, the hand painted movie posters commissioned by Thai film distribution companies between the 1950s and 1990s sensationalized and distorted the stories of the Western and Eastern films they were meant to advertise. In an effort to entice the public into theaters, Thai fine artists created pastiches of scenes from the films with little regard to the central characters, resulting in collages of inadvertently wonderful imagery that is woefully absent in modern movie posters. Vermillion is showing a collection of rare posters courtesy of Cinemapulp.
