About Arlo Wise: Arlo's artistic process centers on experimentation with unconventional materials, textures, and effects. It begins in a flow state, with no allegiance to a plan, followed by reflection on where the painting has taken itself. His strongest work often follows a long period of experimentation and frustration, then resolves in a single session.
He draws inspiration from artists like Gerhard Richter, who rejected a single style and approached painting as philosophical inquiry. Art should not explain the world with answers, but confound our understanding and leave us questioning: "What if".
