April 2026: Color Shift - Judy Chia Hui Hsu
In Color Shift, Judy Chia Hui Hsu transforms natural patterns and landscapes into luminous creations that pulse with energy and joy. Her work, based on her extensive travels and deep curiosity about visual rhythms in nature, celebrates color as a language of discovery and wonder. This exhibit showcases Hsu’s interpretations of the desert scenes of Joshua Tree National Park and the charismatic trees of the Pacific Bonsai Museum.
Judy Chia Hui Hsu is a visual artist whose abstractions explore color transformations of the natural world — flora, fauna and landscapes. Travel has been a primary source of inspiration for the artist. Hsu’s imagination is fueled by the boulders of Joshua Tree National Park, curves of Bonsai trees, camouflage stripes of African wildlife, frozen river deltas of Iceland, and more.
Her work has been shown around the country, including in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, New York and Hawaii. She recently had a solo exhibition at the Pacific Bonsai Museum, and murals are on view at the museum through April 12.
Hsu holds degrees from Stanford University and the University of Southern California’s Graduate School of Journalism, and studied at Oxford University. Born in Taipei, Taiwan, and raised in Los Angeles, Hsu is currently based in Seattle, and travels whenever she can.
